GoDaddy Ditches Neo-Nazi Site Daily Stormer

Web hosting service GoDaddy will cut off access to white nationalist website The Daily Stormer.

"We informed The Daily Stormer that they take 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, every bit they have violated our terms of service," GoDaddy tweeted Sunday.

The message was in response to tweets that asked GoDaddy to "do the right affair" later on the neo-Nazi site posted an offensive story most the immature woman who was killed this weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Activists have long called for GoDaddy to cut ties with Daily Stormer. In May, the Centre for Investigative Reporting's RevealNews.org reported that while GoDaddy denounced the site publicly and said information technology would non host information technology content, Daily Stormer remained live thanks to GoDaddy subsidiary Domains past Proxy.

The Daily Stormer has a history of posting racist and anti-Semitic content. It has been desginated every bit a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Heart (SLPC), which sued the site'southward founder, Andrew Anglin, in Apr for "a harassment campaign that has relentlessly terrorized a Jewish woman and her family with anti-Semitic threats and messages."

White nationalists converged on Charlottesville this weekend for an event, dubbed #UnitetheRight, that turned trigger-happy when white supremacists clashed with protestors. A 20-year-onetime Ohio human being and so drove his car into a crowd of protestors, killing one woman, Heather Heyer, and injuring dozens more. Two police officers monitoring the protests were also killed when their helicopter crashed nearby.

In the wake of the violence, Twitter account @YesYoureRacist has taken to publicly identifying the white supremacists who took part in the event.
